Holiday Traditions… And Giveaway Winners

When my siblings and I were little, my family began a holiday tradition that followed us through our teen years and into adulthood. I’m now deep into my forties (ahem), and we still do it.
To allow my mom to prepare for the coming of Santa Claus, my dad would take my sister, brother, and I shopping on Christmas Eve. We’d go out in search of gifts for Mom ~ since Dad usually hadn’t even begun to shop for her until that day! We’d also have lunch, and it was a special time that we all began to count on and look forward to each year.
We’ve continued to do it over the years, even as we’ve all grown up, gotten married, and even moved to other states. There have been a few years when one of us couldn’t make it, but the tradition has continued in spite of miles, busy schedules, and time.
Do you have a favorite holiday tradition? Have you continued your childhood traditions with your own family?

I’m ashamed to say, I haven’t been so great at creating traditions for my son. Just about the only thing we do, year in and year out, is Christmas Day dinner at my parents’ house. I wish I’d been more diligent about this, and I encourage those of you with young children to actively work at creating traditions for your kids.
Are you writing about your own holiday traditions today? I’d love it if you’d leave a link to your post in comments below!
And now, because I know you’re dying to find out who the two $100 Amazon Gift Card winners are, I won’t make you wait any longer!
